Rajini at p-chidambaram-book-launch
The recent book launch of P Chidambaram’s Oru Paaravai on his birthday saw the bigwigs of Kollywood grace the occasion to much surprise. Interestingly it saw Super Star Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan on a common platform. Moreover, M Karunanidhi and lyricist Vairamuthu were also present for the occassion.
Highlight of the event was Rajinikanth Speech, when called called upon to say a few words regarding the launch. As Rajini trotted towards to the podium many shouted in praise and even urged the superstar to clear upon his current political stand. Initially, he spoke upon his brief association with DMK during the 1996 elections and many of those are asking him to join politics soon followed it with a one liner, If at all I ever choose to do so “En vazhi thani vazhi”, which raised the mood to its electrifying best.
Rajini continued ” Chidambara is a fluent speaker in both Tamil and English. I ve known him for the past 16 years.
“I realized through him and others that politics is not a paradise but is a bed of thorn. PC presented me with the NDTV award few years back and I was happy to receive the award from him. He always wears dhoti and shirt and looks good in them. PC knows how to manage the finance ministry and it’s because of this he’s been given the same assignment more than once in the past too.
“I’m sure PC is trusted a lot by the PM who shares with him many secrets in government and in the party. PC doesn’t say much on many issues but whenever he expresses his opinion, it’s firm and analytical. I’m not much into politics and don’t know anything about it. For this reason, I don’t want to enter politics. I presume PC is aware that my way, if I ever enter politics, would be an unique one,
Following him was Kamal Haasan who seconded the praises and wished the Union Minister will reach the apex of power soon.The ceremonies were subsequently carried out flawlessly at the Kamarajar Arangam in Chennai. It concluded as our former chief minister M Karunanidhi presented a copy of the book to Chidambaram’s mother Lakshmi Ammal.
