NKPK-Pizza
Small and medium-budget producers of Tamil films morale has been hugely bossted by the unexpected success of small-budget films Pizza and Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (NKPK) which released in the last quarter of the year which just slipped by us.
Vijay Sethupathy, who starred in the national-award winning film Thenmerku Paruvakaatru and Sasikumar’s Sundarapandian, played the lead role in Pizza as well as NKPK.
For long, producers of small and medium-budget films were wary of the fact that only films which are produced with a huge budget of Rs.50-100 crores and beyond are courting success at the box-office.
As if to dispel their apprehensions, films such as Pizza and NKPK have turned out to be extremely successful at the box-office. The success of these films has even stumped the film producers.
Thanks to a hat-trick of hits and back-to-back hit films in lead role, all of a sudden, Vijay Sethupathy has become one of the most sought-after actor in Kollywood. Sethupathy, who has come up through the ranks and had toiled hard before tasting success in the industry, hasn’t increased his fee per film to astronomical prices. That his face has become familiar to the audiences has only increased his stakes in the industry.
Producers and directors who are used to making films with small and medium-budgets and who had till now been seeking the services of heroes such as Bharath and Vimal, have started knocking at the doors of Vijay Sethupathy, who has signed up a number of films in the recent past.
Didn’t they say nothing succeeds like success?
