These days remake rights for movies are touch skyrocketing prices. Thanks to a trend which sparked off in Kollywood post the release of Pizza that saw a dream deal being signed for the movies remake rights. Notably, the movie went on to become the first ever success story to generate more money from its dubbing rights than its total production cost.
Following closely is Karthi‘s 2010 hit film Paiyaa. Not far behind it has joined in the prestigious list eyeing the apex spot currently held by Pizza makers. Reportedly, the remake rights for Paiyaa have been sold off in Hindi for Rs 80 lakhs and Kannada for Rs 20 lakhs respectively, summing a one crore deal in total.
The first shoots for the Kannada flick will start off in the last week of January. Interestingly, in Kannada the movie is titled Ajith and the news has not gone well with fans of Thala Ajith. Moreover, the reports have given way to heated discussions amongst fans.
Quite evidently, following the low impact run at the theatres with Alex Pandian which was also named after Rajinikanths character in the yesteryear hit, fans of Thala Ajith fear a similar story and embarrassment their actors name.
