Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya based on Indru Poi Nallai Vaa
Actor-Director K. Bhagyaraj has filed a complaint with the Tamil Nadu Police demanding to stop the release of Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya as it infringes his copyrights, and also to take action against the producer of Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya Mr Ramanarayan along with Pushpa Kandasamy and Janani kandasamy. Bhagyaraj would also soon be filing a civil case demanding 2 crore for the loss that he is to occur by the release of Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya.
As per the complaint filed with the Commissioner office, Director K Bhagyaraj own the story and script rights of 1981 film Indru Poi Nalai Vaa, Written and Directed by Bhagyaraj with a plot of three heroes trying to woo heorine subject.
Indru Poi Nalai Vaa was produced by PD Dirani, but still Bhagyaraj holds the Story and script rights. And in 1992 the films Telugu and Kannada Copyrights were sold by him with the knowledge of the producer.
But in 1993, PD Dirani had sold the world wide negative rights of Indru Poi Nalai Vaa to OK Films, RV Mani for 99 years, But still Bhagyaraj owned the Story rights, and also with the knowledge of RV Mani he had sold the hindi rights in 1998.
In 2012 Pushpa Kandasamy(daughter of K Balachander) and producer Ramanarayan had approached Bhagyaraj to sign an No objection certificate citing they had purchased the movie rights from OK Films, to which Bhagyaraj had declined citing , he held original remake rights based on which he had started works to direct a remake with his Son Shanthanu as the lead in Tamil and Telugu.
And also as per original agreement only the initial producer and story rights holder had the rights to remake the movie, and since the original producer had sold the negative right, Bhagyaraj was the only authorised person to remake the film. But how did Ramanarayan have a document of the film made in 2011, citing Janani Kandasamy had purchased the rights from OK Films to remake Indru Poi Naalai Vaa.
When Verified Bhagyaraj understood it was a forged document created in 2011, that too with a forged signature RV mani. When Bhagyaraj told this to Ramanarayanan, he had promised to withdraw the project and not take it up any more.
But Ramanarayanan has now gone ahead and made it as Kanna Laddu thinna aasaiyaa . More over during the Diwali Special programme, Santhanam, the hero of the film in a SUN TV interview dated 15.11.2012, said Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya story is based on Indru Poi Naalai vaa, and when Ramanarayan had approached him with the film rights, he too joined with him in producing the film . Now it seems Ramanarayan has also cheated Santhanam.
Citing Pushpa kandasamy, Janani Kandasamy and Ramanarayanan the ones beings being involved behind these illegal acts, Bhagyaraj has request to take action action on all three of them, and stop the release of the film that has been made without his consent.
Inspite of me repeated warning them they keep creating problems to me and my plans of making the film with my son Shanthanu, and i plan to movie to a civil court and file civil case demanding a Rs 2 Crores. Thus concluded director Bhagyaraj’s complaint.
Last week it was one of Assistant directors, Naveen Sundar, who claimed it was his story being stolen by Santhanam. Santhanam’s is not definitely not having a smooth first release. But lucky for him the movie is now being distributed by the big wig, Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant.
Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya movie has already booked close to 300 screens for its release this January 13. Will Santhanam credit Bhagyaraj ‘s hand before the release that is just a week away?
