Cultural terrorism should stop: Kamal Hassan

Noted actor Kamal Hassan, expressing his shock at the two-week ban ordered by the Tamil Nadu government on his film "Vishwaroopam" after objections from Muslim organisations, said Thursday he would seek a legal remedy.

In a statement Kamal Hassan said: "I have been ruthlessly used as a vehicle by small groups who seek political profile. Icon bashing is a great way to be noticed when you are not one yourself. It is happenning again and again. Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will surely feel pride on seeing my film. It was designed for that purpose."

"Now I will rely on law and logic to come to our support. This kind of cultural terrorism will have to stop," he added.

The film, which deals about the adversities of war, was majorly shot in the US and Afghanistan.

While he is touched by the support he and his film gets, Kamal added that he is appalled at how his movie is construed to be against his Muslim brothers.

"I am not only hurt by these accusations of denigrating a community but my sensibilities are truly insulted," said Kamal who has written, produced and directed the movie.

He said his statements in favour of the Muslim community has marked him as its sympathizer.

"I have always gone beyond the call of my duty as an actor to voice my opinion in favour of what was humane and civil. I have been part of an organization called Harmony India which worked for Hindu Muslim amity," he added.

However, the organisations hardened their stance after watching the movie, alleging that the community was shown in bad light.

Earlier, the film got into trouble when Kamal had announced that he will premiere it first on DTH and then take it to the theatres.

But when distributors objected, he had to revise his plans. Now the Tamil and Telugu versions will be aired on DTH a week after theatrical release.

Ajith, Vishnuvardhan film goes Dubai

Ajith’s new film in the direction of Vishnuvardhan has wrapped up major part of the shooting in Mumbai and Chennai and for the next schedule, the unit members are flying to Dubai. Few vital scenes will be canned in Dubai for a week long.

Court curbs on 'Vishwaroopam' release till Jan 28

Declining to stay a two-week ban imposed by the Tamil Nadu government on the screening of "Vishwaroopam", the Madras High Court Thursday restricted the film's release till Jan 28. A judge will see the movie Jan 26 and decided on its fate.

Made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, "Vishwaroopam", which deals about the adversities of war, is produced and directed by Kamal Haasan who has also acted in it. It was scheduled to release Friday, but the government imposed curbs following protest from Muslim groups.

"The final verdict on the release of 'Vishwaroopam' will be announced on Jan 28. Justice K. Venkatraman will watch the film on Jan 26 and will deliver final verdict on Jan 28," a lawyer said.

The Tamil and Telugu versions were slated for a Friday release, while the Hindi version, titled "Vishwaroop", is scheduled to come out Feb 1.

Kamal challenged the ban by the state government. In his plea, he contended that the movie was cleared by the censor board and the state government could not ban it.

Nayanthara roped in for 'Kahaani' remake

Actress Nayanthara, one of the leading actresses of the southern film industry, has been roped in to play Vidya Bagchi in the southern remake of Hindi movie "Kahaani", in which Vidya Balan played the lead.

In the original, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Vidya played a software programmer. She comes to Kolkata from London in search of her husband.

Expressing her happiness, Nayanthara said: "I am extremely delighted to be a part of this movie."

"The character of Vidya Bagchi was beautifully essayed by Vidya Balan and I should say I am lucky that Endemol approached me for this role. It is definitely a performance oriented role and audiences will see me in a completely different avatar!" she said in a statement.

The actress has known for essaying character-driven roles and she has delivered super hit films across languages down South.

The 27-year-old made her acting debut in the 2003 Malayalam film "Manassinakkare" and followed it with the successful "Vismayathumbathu" in 2004 before foraying into Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Critically acclaimed filmmaker Sekhar Kammula will direct "Kahaani" in Telugu and Tamil.

He is excited to work with Nayanthara and added: "Going by her previous work, I truly feel that Nayanthara can express and connect with the audiences beautifully. It is this endearing quality of hers that makes her our Vidya Bagchi!"

The bilingual remake in Tamil and Telugu is all set to go on floors soon. The film will be co-produced by Endemol India, Logline Productions Pvt. Ltd and Select Media Holdings Pvt Ltd.

Saddened by the ban on his close friend and colleague Kamal Haasan's "Vishwaroopam" in the state, superstar Rajinikanth has urged Muslim groups to withdraw their protest.

On Wednesday, the state government banned "Vishwaroopam" for two weeks when around 25 Muslim organisations objected to Kamal's movie on the ground that it portrays the community in bad light.

A day later, the Madras High Court restricted the film's release till Jan 28. A judge will see the movie Jan 26 and decided on its fate.

"I request my Muslim brothers to sit with Kamal Haasan, discuss and release the film without hampering the storyline. He is no ordinary artiste but an extraordinary one who can take Tamil cinema to all new levels," Rajinikanth said in a statement.

"Kamal and I have been friends for over 40 years and I know personally for a fact that he wouldn't hurt the sentiments of anybody let alone Muslims," he added.

Made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, "Vishwaroopam", which deals about the adversities of war, is produced and directed by Kamal who has also acted in it. It was earlier scheduled for a Jan 25 release.

When the Muslim organisations had objected to the movie, Kamal organised a special screening for them. But the members of the organisations hardened their stance after watching the movie, alleging that the community was shown in bad light.

"He should be respected for the fact that he screened the film to Islamic leaders before its theatrical release," said Rajini

"Vishwaroopam" in Tamil and Telugu was scheduled to release Friday Jan 25, but was only released in places like Kerala and few parts of Hyderabad.

The film, which also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Shekhar Kapur and Jaideep Ahlawat, has also been banned in Andhra Pradesh Friday by the state government.

Healthy competition helps in raising the bar: Piaa Bajpai

Piaa Bajpai has come a long way from being a dubbing artist to one of the well-known faces in southern cinema. Undaunted by the cut-throat competition in showbiz, the actress strongly believes healthy competition paves the way to a better performance.

"I never get pressurised by competition because I feel healthy competition helps in raising the bar with regards to performance. In every film, I've only pushed myself to do better and have always succeeded," Piaa said.

"If one is extremely hard working, then competition will have no effect on him or her," she added.

Finding a foothold in Mumbai filmdom was her goal.

"Even though I always wanted to be an actor, I was not where I was supposed to be - Mumbai. I started my career in Mumbai as a dubbing artist earning anywhere between Rs.200-Rs.500 for one session," said Piaa, who holds a diploma in computer science.

"I did several odd jobs before doing print ads and finally was cast in an ad film opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Acclaimed filmmaker Priyadarshan, who directed the ad film, went on to cast me in my debut Tamil film ('Poi Solla Porom') and rest was history," she said.

"Poi Solla Porom" was a Tamil remake of Bollywood hit "Khosla Ka Ghosla". Since then she has acted in several Telugu and Tamil films, playing both lead and second fiddle.

"I don't believe in lead or second heroine because it's the character that matters to me the most. If my character is important, then all I have to worry about is putting up a good show. Audience loved my performance in 'Ko', 'Goa' and 'Sattam Oru Iruttarai' despite the presence of multiple heroines," said Piaa.

The actress, who has two releases lined up for this year - Telugu-Tamil thriller "Dalam" and Telugu romantic drama "Backbench Student", doesn't believe in luck.

"I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth and therefore had to slog my way up to the place where I'm now. I believe in making it big through constant effort and determination," said Piaa.

Queried about what kind of roles she likes to play, she said, "I like to play characters that I'm happy with but not what the audiences or critics. If I'm happy with my character I don't even worry about the feedback I receive from the viewers because each one will have different perspective".

Rettai Thala will be Ajiths next with AR Murugadoss

There is no doubt that Thala Ajith has a way with his words. Previously when Vishnuvardhan wanted to name his ongoing directorial as Thala taking a slice of the actors’ brand wagon Ajith had politely declined the offer. In response, Thala had purposefully remarked that the story and script were much important, and they outweighed his individual presence in the movie at all costs.Eventually, left with no choice the title is still being decided upon although many expect it to called Valai.

Meanwhile, in a turn of events, owing to Ajiths much suspected collaboration with AR Murugadoss an industry insider recently reports“Thala’s forthcoming project will be titled as Rettai Thala as he will play a dual role in the same.As Murugadoss gave birth to their popular association, Thala has also agreed to ARM’s request. ” However, the official announcement on the same is yet to confirm the reports.

If the reports turn true Ajith and Murugadoss will shake hands after a longtime sans their much praised past success Dheena in 2001. Nonetheless, fans of Thala will have to keep calm and hold on till Ajith completes his ongoing project with Vishnuvardhan. Likewise,  AR Murugadoss will stay busy with Thuppakkis north Indian release.

Muslim organisations demand ban on Vishwaroopam release with the Chennai commissioner

A flock of Muslim organizations stood tall against the screening of Kamal Haasan`s Vishwaroopam that opened for advance booking earlier in the day. The move has been suspected to be a plot by close competitors of Ulganayagan Kamal who have advantageously irked the religious sentiments of the community and are hoping ill for the actor.

Followed the much promised special screening of the movie for the community prior to its release MH Jawahirullah, MLA and President for the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam along with his close representatives cried out in unison seeking to ban Kamals magnum opus in the making for two long years.

Furthermore the organisation has  also sought a prompt decision from the City Police Commissioner S George as they stated the trailer of the movie itself is biased and hurt the sentiments. It clearly portrayed the religion in bad light and the followers as outsiders of the nation.

Meanwhile, Kamal who has already tackled his way through innumerable objections by theatres is expecting a good turnout for his movie.Reportedly tickets for January 25,26 and 27 have been already sold out in the major cineplexes in the state.However, representatives from Haasans camp have been far away from reach as the team is busy preparing for a screening this January 24 in Los Angeles.

Gnanavelraja dismantles his team after successive failures

After back-to-back failures as producer with Karthi starrer Saguni and Alex Pandian, film-maker K.E Gnanavelraja has reportedly initiated a secretive ‘stock-taking’ exercise with his trusted team of aides. Sources close to Gnanavelraja, uncle of actors Suriya and Karthi, say that the exercise is apparently intended to find out the reasons/factors which contributed to both the films biting the dust at the box-office.

Gnanavelraja’s  current 12-member team are the people assigned with the job of listening to the scripts from directors. Depending on the director’s reputation and the script(s), the team decides on behalf of Gnanavelraja as to whether or not the script(s) narrated to them deserve(s) investment. Gnanavelraja is  also known to stick to his team’s decision.

Following the  poor choice of  Saguni and Alex Pandian, Not satisfied with the team’s work, Gnanverraja is said to be dismantling’ or ‘dissolving’ the team. At a recent meeting with the team, he has given the members a literal ‘dressing down’ and asked them to be wary of market trends and the public liking before deciding on the scripts which are narrated to them.

In the meantime, while movies produced by his home production are biting the dust at box-office at regular intervals, the other film distributed under his banner Attakathi and Kumki have done well. A ‘formal’ research is being conducted to go into this syndrome which belies logic.

Vishal: Certain Forces tried to block Samar release

Actor Vishal did drop a ‘bombshell’ by saying that certain ‘forces’ were quite intent in getting his film Samar blocked from release during the teams success meet. Samar is doing reasonably well in theatres  after its release last week , also it has received all-round critical acclaim especially for its screenplay.

The movie team comprising director Thiru, lead actors Vishal and Trisha met the media last week to celebrate the success of their movie.  During the meet, Vishal revealed,  “Samar has had been facing a lot of obstacles right from the start and  towards the end certain forces had made  plenty of efforts to block the film’s progress and release. All those efforts were happening behind us and therefore, we were unable to pinpoint the culprits. “

Later at the meet Vishal thanked everyone for the positive reviews of the film,  he added”We were always confident during the making of the film, that the  screenplay would surely get accolades as and when the film gets released in theatres. Our prediction has now turned true. The film has turned out to be a hit film and I’m thankful to all those who have been behind in making this possible.”

Further he added, “Fans and movie-goers who always patronize films made with sincerity and hard-work are responsible for the success of Samar. The Telugu version of the film will be releasing this Friday (25th January). I would like to work with director Thiru once again. I’m also quite happy that my first film with long-time friend Trisha has turned out to be a successful affair,”. 

He also informed that the film is likely to be released in more theatres in the days to come.

Hindu Maha Sabha files obscene complaint against Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya

The Hindu Maha Sabha (HMS) on Sunday has filed a complaint against Rama Narayanan and Santhanam, the producers of the film Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya (KLTA), accusing them of depicting Hindu Goddess Amman and women cops in a derogatory manner in the film. Veer Vasanthakumar, the president of HMS,  who filed a complaint with the city police commissioner seeking action against the producers and has also demanded deletion of the said scenes.

The complaint said, “Produced by Rama Narayanan and Santhanam, Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya was released in theatres recently. In a particular sequence, Santhanam, Srinivasan and Sethu who play the lead roles are shown ‘playing’ in an inebriated state to grab the trident(Trishulam) and the ornaments of Amman, she has in her possession. Sequences wherein Goddess Amman is made to look hapless have hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community.

Also, in another sequence, one of the heroes is shown to teasing a  woman cop and removing her belt. Such sequences  have insulted the feelings of those who worship Goddess Amman and the reputation of women. These scenes are strongly condemn-able and should be deleted from the film with immediate effect.“ the complaint concluded.

HMS has also threatened to stage protest outside the residences of Ramanarayanan and Santhanam if those sequences are not deleted from the film forthwith.

Mani Ratnam much awaited forthcoming release Kadal recently brushed past the critical eyes of the censor board with a spotless U certificate.

Following which the director is making sure to book the major theatres in the state preceding its release. A close source mentions, “In all probability the movie will release this February 1^st.”  In addition, featuring a chartbusting album by Isapuyal AR Rahman and cinematographer Rajiv Menon behind the lens, fans eagerly look forward to another blockbuster from the inimitable trio.

Meanwhile, closing in on the competition simultaneuosly is Mani’s own past assistant and director Bejoy Nambiar. He plans to release the Vikram and Jiiva starrer David on the same day . On good advice, industry insiders remarked it would be tactful to postpone the release of David to a much further date as competition will be heavy at the box office and a scarcity of theatres will affect the proceedings.

With Vishwaroopam releasing on January 25th across five hundred plus screens and Kadal basking in a majority of screens in Tamil Nadu,  David may have to face the brunt of the move eventually. However, nothing has been officially confirmed from the David camp yet.

Kamal revises release plans, but says DTH future of cinema

Kamal Haasan had decided to premiere his Tamil film "Vishwaroopam", its dubbed Telugu version and the Hindi "Vishwaroop" on DTH a day before the scheduled theatrical release. But distributors were unhappy with the move and Kamal had to shelve that plan.

"The Hindi version is being released on Feb 1. It cannot be released on Jan 25 along with the Tamil and Telugu versions because 'Race 2' is releasing the same day," the actor-director-producer said on the new revised release plans.

The film stars Shekhar Kapur, Rahul Bose and Kamal who has also directed the film.

But he is as confident of the DTH premiere strategy as he was before he was compelled to bow down.

"Look at the success through the DTH of the new Richard Gere film 'Arbitrage'. It has collected double its theatre collections on DTH. DTH is the future of cinema. The postponement of my film's release gave me an opportunity to convince my film fraternity of the feasibility of DTH.

"Unfortunately, the advance bookings had already opened when we postponed. We had to say sorry to the disappointed patrons. But I have to tell you, the advance bookings were unprecedented. No one refrained from going to the theatres because of the DTH. The panic regarding DTH is prevalent all over the world."

Shruti Haasan to release her poems in English and Tamil

Whoever said beauty and brains don’t mix in a woman often would have to eat back his words: meet Shruti Haasan, the pretty-faced, mightily-talented and multifaceted actress who is also in possession of a hourglass figure besides a flooring smile. Dhanush Mariyaan’s unique shoot

Dhanush’s forthcoming film Mariyaan directed by Bharat Bala was shot in a unique manner. The regular shoot was started with climax and last scene and the entire shoot was taken in reverse. The makers have finished off the shooting schedules with first scene of the movie.

"Mariyaan was filmd in reverse T climax was t 1st scne 2 b filmed and Dhanush hd 2 work al his emotions in reverse," tweeted director Bharat Bala. Dhanush will be seen in the role of a construction site worker while Parvathi Menon is playing his love interest.

AR Rahman has provided the soundtrack and the makers wrapped up canning all the songs shooting and Mariyaan will hit the big-screens very soon.

Although Kamal Haasan considers K Balachander as his prime mentor he has cited Balu Mahendra and P Bharathiraja amongst his major influences during the recently held audio launch for the Telugu version of Vishwaroopam.

Post the event his day was filled with flattering responses from Bharathiraja. However, Kamal was still a bit disappointed that Balu Mahendra could not make it to the prestigious function due to some personal problems.

Following which Kamal made sure that a special showcase of his action thriller be made for Balu Mahendra. Much to his surprise after the show Balu Mahendra remarked “Kamal should be known as Ulaga Iyakunar from now on. He is possessed by the medium of cinema like no one else and I am proud that he is a fellow Tamilian.  I pride myself in being a close friend of his.”

The statement has been well received by Kamals fans and good wishes are pouring in for the actor. His action-thriller which is written, directed and produced by Kamal will also feature Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose and Shekhar Kapur in supporting roles. The movie awaits its release scheduled for January 25 all across the state. Subsequently a DTH premiere of the movie will follow a week later.

Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya is a sure winner at the box office this Pongal. Bringing along with it the special attraction Powerstar Srinivasan and his comical injections the movie has successful established itself on top of the game.

Walking out of the theatres many are in awe of Powerstars antics in the movie. Certainly he has overshadowed his close support Santhanam and Sethu in their chase for Vishaka Singh with his quirky facial expressions.

Powerstar says “I always wanted to do commercial roles for the masses because at the end of the day it is my fans who will decide if I should stay or leave. Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Vishwaroopam will be screened all across the state a day before the republic day on January 25^th. Reportedly more than 500 screens will showcase the movie.

However, some websites had previously reported that the movie will gain support from Red Giant owner Udhayanidhi Stalin. Rubbishing off the reports Stalin had earlier replied “Few websites r carrying news dat Red Giant is releasing Ulaganaayagans VISWAROOPAM! It’s NOT TRUE! Right now v r still trying 2 promote KLTA.”

Well in much contrast moments later he surprised many with his announcement “Red Giant has bought the distribution rights of Ulaga Naayagans VISWAROOPAM for just 1 area in TN! (SALEM area). Rest of the areas sold out! Kamal sir never asked for nybodys help! Red Giant is honoured 2 b a small part in a prestigious project”

Vishnuvardhan is currently busy with Thala Ajith‘s fifty third movie produced under AM Ratnam. However, the title of the movie has long held close to his chest and he has for long remained tight lipped about it.

Following which the suspense only got bigger after a short update from the writers of the movie said it may start with V. But now curious fans of the actor have been treated to the good news. Breaking the long silence the much promised classy entertainer has eventually been christened as Valai. Official announcement is expected this Sunday.

Close sources from the shooting location also tell us that Ajith is an ethical hacker and the title sits well as he carries out a lot of the duties on the inter’net’ being a hacker.

Meanwhile, the Valai team is briskly getting over with its shooting schedules. Recently Taapsee Pannu confirmed that her part for the movie was over as she disclosed on her microblogging site “Last day of this schedule in bombay. Will surely miss this unit.”

Post the schedules completion the crew has headed to Dubai in lieu of their forthcoming schedule. Apart from Thala and Taapsee the flick will also feature Arya and Nayanthara in supporting roles.

Industry-watchers predict that young guns Karthika Nair and Thulasi Nair, daughters of actress Radha, might end up having a long and successful run at the box-office much the same way as their mother Radha and her own sister Ambika dominated the Tamil film industry throughout the eighties.

Ambika and Radha debuted in Tamil as heroines in 1981 in Andha Ezhu Naatkal and Alaigal Oyvathillai respectively in that order. It was the first outing for Radha on silver-screen while Ambika had already starred in quite a few Malayalam films. The sisters went on to become leading heroines and starred opposite the likes of (late) Sivaji Ganesan, superstar Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijaykanth, K. Bhagyaraj, Sathyaraj, Karthik and Prabhu in many super-hit films besides starring together in a few films.

Almost in a similar manner, 20-year old elder sister Karthika first debuted as heroine in a Telugu film which didn’t do wonders to her career before successfully debuting in Tamil with Ko. After Ko, Karthika hasn’t had any film releasing for close to two years now and is banking heavily on veteran director Bharathiraaja’s Annkodiyum Kodiveeranum to make a mark in Kollywood as an actress of substance. She has also bagged Deal opposite Arun Vijay who has delivered some significant hits in the past 3-4 years.

Thulasi Nair, the 15-year old second and younger daughter of Radha, debuts as heroine in Tamil films with ace director Maniratnam’s Kadal and has been pitted opposite another debutant in Gautham Karthik (son of actor Karthik). It would be interesting to see how Karthika and Thulasi fare opposite today’s leading stars such as Ajith and Vijay. Thulasi had already gone on record saying that she is a fan of Suriya and Vijay.

Even before the release of her first film Kadal, Thulasi has bagged a prestigious project in Yaan opposite Jiiva to be directed by cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran. There is, therefore, every possibility that the sisters might become as successful and as popular as Radha and Ambika.

Promising to be a gala event it has amassed a lot of attention from fans preceding the release. Notably talks are on to invite Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Sri Devi for the event and make it one of the most glamorous evenings in the recent times.

Interestingly the album also marks the return of Chinmayi and GV collaboration after a longtime. The songstress had sung a tune titled Kaadhal Neruppin for GV Prakashs’ debut stint as composer back in 2006 for Veyil. Acknowledging the fact that they are collaborating once again Chinmayi wrote on her microblogging site “Greatly expecting my song from Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum for @gvprakash yaaay!!”

Quite evidently, the recently revealed track list for Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum mentioned Chinmayi to have sung for a track titled Aavarangaatukulla alongside Sathya Prakash penned by none other than Vairamuthu.

Santhanams maiden production venture Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya is running successfully at the silver screens. However, the issue of plagiarism has struck him once again as he has failed to credit K Bhagyaraj for his movie Indru Poi Naalai Vaa as promised earlier.

Owing to a broken promise this time it is the son of actor and director K. Bhagyaraj who is heading the case against Santhanam and crew. “Santhanam who had previously agreed on a compromise to credit K. Bhagyaraj by returning him a handsome share of the profits has faulted again. Even after repeated attempts to contact him there has been no response from his side ” claims Shanthanu Bhagyaraj

To make matters worse Santhanam who had stated his earlier in the pre release interviews, the  films was based on K Bhagyarajs Indru Poi Nalai vaa script, has now turned the table around stating the film  he was inspired by  The Hangover. 

In response Shanthanu Bhagyaraj wrote on his microbloggin site expressing his astonishment on the same, ”You people say that YOU have conceived the concept and story? Its a RIP off !! you’ve done it and better ACCEPT it! To all the press and media, no compensation has been paid for taking my dad’s Indru poi naalai Vaa script.. all rumours. Not gonna let it pass unnoticed. Case is going on.. but I just want the people to know what’s been happening because they’re spreading rumors that we have been compensated. The court case is going on now and we wonder how this issue is going to be resolved.”

Moreover the young lad also said that it was shameless for the crew to state that the movie was original after all they could have just mentioned it as a remake.

Industry insiders remarked “Just after Vijay’s Thuppakki was bought for a huge price, Gemini Film Circuit has also sold off Kadal to Vijay TV.”

Expected to release this February 1,  many suspected a handsome deal for its television rights thanks to an impressive marketing preceding the release. Living up to the expectations, a mega deal has been inked for a staggering sum between the parties. However, details on the same are yet to be clarified as the paperwork have been done off with discretely.

The movie will mark the much talked about debut of Gautham and Thulasi Nair. Apart from them it will also have Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Vijay TV’s simultaneous sign up – Thuppakki recently crossed the 100 Cr mark and is still basking in fans internationally.The channel has reaffirmed that they are sailing way above others in the race for satellite rights. Nevertheless a nice start indeed.

Actress Thulasi, Youngest daughter of Radha, and younger sibling of Karthika (of Ko fame), is debuting soon as heroine with ace director Mani Ratnam’s Kadal which has debutant Gautham, son of actor Karthik as the hero.  15 year old Thulasi, has a matured head on her slender shoulders and would be appearing for her Class X Board exams this March.

She has completed the shoot of Kadal and is pairing up opposite Jiiva (Karthika’s recommendation?) in Yaan, being made by cinematographer RK Chandran.

Thulasi has recently spoken about her preferences in the film industry. No, the debutant hasn’t said anything about what sort of films she would love to do or the kind of directors she would like to get associated with in future.

During a recent brief chat with pressmen, Thulasi said,  “I did some homework prior to start shooting for Kadal; in fact, I watched Alaigal Oivadhillai as many as 10 times to get a feeling of how to play a heroine in a film. Rubbishing the rumors entirely director Thiru has indirectly accused Studio Green for its repeated attempts against the release of Samar, and creating the confusion among theatre oweners.

Now in the mood to payback all those who stood in his way, Thiru, has been venting out his anger on public forums mocking the studio as an eco-friendly studio. Recently the director wrote on his microblogging site, “Dear Eco friendly studio…I know you tried your best to stop our release but you failed! better luck next time!! Rather than concentrating on others projects better concentrate on yours…all the very best for your next film..God bless.”

Looks like Studio Green has got a good message in the post. It is quite shameful! that they could stoop low to such standards for the sake of promotion.

Simbus teaser for Vaalus upcoming single-lovenraven nee yaaruda

After Podaa Podi hit the silver screens last Diwali, Simbu had disappeared from limelight for a while. Now he is back to thrill his audience as his next movie Vaalu awaits a suitable slot at the theatres. Apart from the actor, the movie will feature Hansika, Santhanam and VTV Ganesh in supporting roles.

However, the audio of the movie has been the talk of the town after Simbu recently hinted in a comment “#Vaalu single song releasing soon … Lovenraven nee yaruda ? Yenn munadi vandhu ninnu paruda !!!”

Touted to be a romantic tale made for the youth it is certain that there could not have been a better day than February 14^th (Valentine’s Day) to release the album. Thaman who is the man behind the compositions is expected to deliver a hit similar to Osthe. He recently uploaded a teaser of the yet to be released single on February 3rd from the album.  Notably, STR has sung the tune and written the lyrics. Udhyanidhi Stalin happy for Santhanam

The combination of Santhanam and  Udhyanidhi Stalin has been creating a good impact at the box office repeatedly. The comedian will once again chip in with his comic injections just like he did in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi for Stalins upcoming venture Idhu Kadhirvelan Kadhal.

Stalin recently expressed his joy for his Oru Kal Oru Kannadi co star Santhanam. Notably Santas maiden production released at the box office some days ago. In response Stalin wrote on his microblogging site “KLTA! RedGiants 1st Pongal release!Super response nd collection!Thx 2 prod Ramanarayanan sir nd my PAARTHAA Santhanam for making dis happen!”

In addition, Stalins banner Red Giant Movies has another project under their belt featuring Mirchi Shiva and Priya Anand in lead roles which will be directed by Krithika Udhayanidhi (Udhays wife).

Meanwhile, Idhu Kadhirvelan Kadhal will feature Udayanidhi and Nayanthara in a pivotal role.  Nayanthara plays his love interest Pavithra.Directed by S.R. Prabhakaran of ‘Sundarapandian’ fame, Harris Jayaraj will be the featured composer for the movie. It will be produced by Stalins home banner Red Giant Films.
