Not all of the kollywood’s front-line heroines had any release to name in 2012. Despite them not featuring in a single film, neither their popularity among their fans nor the craving among producers and directors to sign them up in new films appears to have receded. Tamanna, Nayanthara, Trisha are still preferred by film-makers of big budgets. In a trade where most heroines life span is hardly 1 film, if these heroines are able to maintain their market value with out any delivery, it is purely hard and smart work they had done prior.
Tamanna hasn’t starred in a Tamil film for close to one-and-a-half years now, after last year’s Venghai opposite Dhanush. However, she has had some super hits in Telugu in the intervening period. She is now cast as Ajith’s heroine (for Rs.1.5 crores!) in an upcoming Tamil film to be directed by Siruthai Siva. in 2012 Tamanna had a restrictions put on her to not sign up any new films until she completes her already work in progress projects, now she is done with those, now it remains to be seen as to how many films she does in Tamil in 2013.
Despite being often called as the ‘No.1’ in Tamil films, Nayanthara’s last film in Tamil, Boss Engira Baskaran released more than two years back. The craze for the controversy queen is not down a bit, she had declared retirement due to personal reasons and is now back roaring. She would be seen in at least 3 films in 2013 opposite the likes of Ajith, Aarya and Udhayanidhi.
Kajal Agarwal was the only one actress who used the absence of biggies at the right slot. Her Maattrraan opposite Surya did not work out as expected, but post Thuppakki release the actress has proven she is worth the package. In 2013 Kajal has just one release in tamil in the form of All in All Azhagu raja opposite Karthi. But she is the most in demand in tollywood.
Trisha, who will be 30 next year, seems to be getting sexier than ever before, She has also completed a decade-long stay as lead heroine in films. In 2012 she had couple of releases in Telugu and her Samar opposite Vishal was to release last week but had to be postponed for various reasons. It is now certain that she would also have 3 of her films releasing next year including Endrendrum Punnagai opposite Jiiva and Boologam opposite ‘Jayam’ Ravi.
Anushka did not not have a great year with both her films Saguni and Thandavam flopping at the box office, but she is still the favourite when it comes to Suriya brothers, In 2013 Anushka would be seen in action in Alex Pandian opposite karthi, Singam 2 opposite elder brother Suriya and if all the production issues are resolved, Irandam Ulagam would see its release.
Amala Paul and Samantha are not too far off, if they can hold on for few more decent films under their belt, its sure they would be replacing some one from the above pack in 2013.
