Actor-director Raghava Lawrence is being ‘penalized’ by the Telugu Film Producers’ Council and asked to ‘compensate’ for the losses incurred by the producers of Rebel to an amount of Rs.2.5 crore within a month’s time, following the producers of the film complaining Lawrence had overshot the original budget.
Till Lawrence abides by the decision, he wound neither be allowed to choreograph songs or direct films in Tollywood. Those who are close to Lawrence are lamenting that it’s ironical that it had to be Lawrence who has become a ‘precedent’ in disputes such as these in the industry.
Now on similar lines are producers of upcoming Tamil film Moondru Per Moondru Kaadhal (MPMK), which marks the return of director Vasanth to making films after a long hiatus, are said to be planning a similar action on the director.
It is reported that he film, produced by the trio of Bharath Kumar, Matha Ajay Prasath and Mahendiran, was reportedly planned to be made at a budget of Rs.5.5 crores but Vasanth has almost spent as many as Rs.16 crores till date.
Vasanth is also said to have spent lavishly for the film’s audio-launch held at a star-hotel in the city. Looks like Vasanth is in a ‘Catch 22’ situation like Lawrence is.
