Ajith expects fans to not defame anyone in Facebook

Ajith expects fans to not defame anyone in Facebook:
Ajith
Ajith
Ajith Kumar has strongly condemned littering Facebook accounts with disparaging remarks about others. The actor spoke to the press recently as he is about to wrap up the shoot of his film Valai.
“It’s true that I encountered some accidents during the making of Valai. The reason was that I wasn’t intent in using a ‘body double’. I could have used the services of a body double but wanted to do it on my own as I had done so many times in the past. However, I’m not blaming anyone else for this; accidents are part and parcel of an actor’s career. We undertake risks on our own and will have to face whatever comes with it.
“I have been near to death in the past and am not sure whether I am destined to getting into accidents frequently. It’s the Almighty who decides about what film I do, who stars opposite me and who directs my films; I don’t have any say in them.”
Speaking on the recent controversy film have been going through, Ajith Commented “ Of late, formation of the villain’s character has become  a Herculean task, as controversy arises with ease if the villain is shown to be belonging to a particular caste/religion/profession.
“Also many new political outfits try to blow a film’s script/casting in order to garner political mileage and cheap publicity. On the whole, we Indians lack discipline in all walks of our lives. Just as we expect good leaders to rule us, we ought to behave like good citizens. I don’t expect my fans to record anything defaming anyone in their Facebook accounts. Social networking sites shouldn’t be polluted with such views,” Ajith concluded.

“In order to cater to the needs of those residing in all these areas, we are releasing the film through ‘shifting’ mode and as per this arrangement, the film now runs in 8 different Cineworld halls. The requests we have been receiving are from the Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Urdu-speaking people and we are trying our best to honour the requests that we have been receiving.
“We are ready to accept such requests in the days to come. Very soon, we are planning to bring for the benefit of the Indians residing in U.K. films such as Bala’s Paradesi and a few big-budget ventures,” the communiqué ended thus.

Comedian Kumarimuthu suspended from Nadigar Sangam

Comedian Kumarimuthu
Comedian Kumarimuthu
Comedian Kumarimuthu was last month served a show cause notice by the Nadigar Sangam( tamil Films Artiste Association) following the comedians ‘disrespectful’ attack on the Sangam Members in public, and releasing misleading information on the newly erected Sangam Building .
But the Comedian has not bowed to the show cause notice, Replying to the notice, Kumarimuthu has maintained that he had only sought some clarification.
In the  letter Kumari Muthu has said “I had only written a letter to the Sangam in order to clear my doubts about the place allocated for the construction of the Sangam building. Many co-artistes have voiced their opinion like me. I’m not sure whether all of them have been served a ‘show-cause’ notice similar to the one I have received . I have been working in the film industry for the past 44 years  after being trained on-stage. So far  no Actors have not had a complaint on me
“My only wish is that the Sangam, which had once been patronized by the legends like  late MGR, Sivaji Ganesan, N.S. Krishnan and S.V. Sahasranamam, should be run in an unbiased manner and its traditions should never be compromised!”, concludes the letter.
The Latest update we get from a Sangam member is that, the letter received from Kumari Muthu was not satisfactory to the committee members who reviewed it. Hence Comedian Kumarimuthu membership stands sususpende till the issue is discussed at the General meeting with the Sangam heads.

Prasanna on a signing spree

Prasanna
Actor Prasanna is having a great time no doubt. With his ladylove Sneha, creating a big impact at the box office in Haridas, Prasanna seems much content with his life. Charged with the good vibes surrounding his personal and professional life, he is also discussing several other projects to establish his stronghold at the box office.
Currently awaiting the release of Chennaiyil Oru Naal(CON) featuring Prakash Raj, Cheran, Sarath Kumar and Radhika. He is cast as a doctor in the flick. The screenplay for ‘CON’ is inspired from a real life incident. Following the thriller there is Kalyana Samayal Sadham directed by R S Prasanna which is based on a South Indian wedding. AVM to make short films before making them for big screen

AVM
AVM Productions, founded by the late A V Meiyappa Chettiyar(AVM) has the unique distinction to have continued a five decade successful run in the movie business. The prestigious banner is in its sixty second year.
It goes without saying that all this has only been possible because of a clear vision and a will to adapt to the changing times and tastes of its audience. Post AVM’s demise, the chunk of responsibilities has been shared by sons M. Balasubramanian and M. Saravanan.
In its initial phase, the prominent banner has been instrumental in introducing prominent performers such as Vyjayanthimala, Sivaji Ganesan, S. S. Rajendran and Kamal Haasan . With the arrival of M. Saravanan releases such as Punnami Naagu (Actor Chiranjeevi’s launchpad), Murattu Kalai (Rajnikanth’s stardom), Samsaram Adhu Minsaram (1989), Minsara Kanavu (1997), Gemini (2002), and Perazhagan (2004) reaffirmed the banner’s presence midst the big players.
However, Saravanan has eventually decided to resign and hand over the duties to the third generation of aspirants namely son M. S. Guhan and brother Balasubramanian’s offspring B. Gurunath.
Following in their forefathers tactful approach which has successfully kept the legacy invincible, the duo recently chalked out a refined testing mechanism. According to them it will ensure a guaranteed return from every major release at the box office. The model is based on a strategic release of a short film preceding the major release. Once, the short version amasses the desired attention, talks regarding the full fledged production will be taken into consideration.
It is pertinent to mention here, a similar approach is much prevalent in Hollywood thanks to Harold Lloyd for inventing the noble concept back in 1928. However, the procedure involves screening of the movie itself prior to its general release to a selected list of critics and a small percentage of movie buffs. The event clearly gives the producers a rough idea of the audience reaction for the movie.
We need to wait and watch if AVM has a different take on it. Whatever be their decision, this move will surely change the way the game of releases in the industry. Interesting times are ahead for Kollywood as the banner gears up for a new change under the promising guidance of dynamic leaders.

Newspaper article inspires 'Karuppampatti'

Debutant Tamil director Prabhu Raja Cholan says the source of inspiration for his upcoming romantic-comedy "Karuppampatti" is a newspaper article. He says he developed the story with commercial elements infused in facts from the article.
"The basic knot of the story is inspired from a newspaper article. It was recently that I read an article about a foreigner coming to India in search of his familial roots. Based on this simple premise, I developed a plot for the film," Cholan said.
"I obviously couldn't make a film entirely based on the article because of certain constraints. Instead, I chose to retain the crux of the article in my film and developed characters and some commercial elements around it," he added.
He says the film is shot in three different eras.
"Since the story of the film has a period flavour, we have three different eras. The first one is that of the time period before 1980s. It is shot in black-and-white mode. The second one is Eastman colour era, and it is here that we have included a Tamil disco number by Bappi Lahiri, while the third is shot in present day," said Cholan.
"The story of the film is about an Indian, born and raised in France, who comes to India in search of his roots. He arrives at a village called Karuppampatti and what happens there, forms the rest of the story," he said.
The film features Ajmal Ameer in dual roles alongside Piaa Bajpai and Alice Tantardini. It also stars Archana, M.S. Bhaskar, Jagan, Srinath and Devadarshini.
Queried about his choice of Bappi Lahiri for a song in the film, Cholan said: "It was a 1980s disco number and we wanted someone whose voice will also suit the era. It is then we zeroed in Bappi sir, the disco king, who introduced the disco numbers into India".
Sundar K has produced the film, which has music by Kannan. It is getting ready for release soon.

Kamal Haasan has finally reached an amicable agreement with Muslim groups over the screening of movie ‘Vishwaroopam’ in Tamil Nadu. Kamal has agreed to delete 7 objectionable scenes and to mute the Quran verses from the film.
The settlement was reached after a 5-hour meeting between Kamal Haasan’s camp and Muslim groups in the presence of Home Secretary R Rajagopal IAS at the Secretariat in Chennai.
The edited movie will be released in Tamil Nadu, after receiving the approval from Censor Board again. The matter will come up for hearing on February 6.
“I had a discussion with my Muslim brothers. They told me which are the scenes that would offend and could be removed. I have agreed to delete few objectional sequences”, said the actor, while addressing the media.
Kamal added that the issue has been settled amicably. “We will immediately arrange to announce the date of release after consultations, including with technical team”, said Kamal.
Following this, the Muslim groups  have declared that no more protests will be held against the ban of Vishwaroopam. M H Jawahirullah on behalf of the Muslim organisations said, “Kamal has agreed to delete 7 objectionable portions out of 12 portions that were told by us. He also has agreed to mute some scenes”.
The tri-lingual film, originally slated for release on January 25, was banned by Tamil Nadu state government for two weeks, as the govt. feared that its screening would spawn protests.
Meanwhile, the hindi version of the film titled ‘Vishwaroop‘, released on Friday, opened to good response in North India, with multiplex owners claiming that the controversy surrounding the movie has generated more curiosity among the audience.

Cultural terrorism should stop: Kamal Hassan

Noted actor Kamal Hassan, expressing his shock at the two-week ban ordered by the Tamil Nadu government on his film "Vishwaroopam" after objections from Muslim organisations, said Thursday he would seek a legal remedy.
In a statement Kamal Hassan said: "I have been ruthlessly used as a vehicle by small groups who seek political profile. Icon bashing is a great way to be noticed when you are not one yourself. It is happenning again and again. Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will surely feel pride on seeing my film. It was designed for that purpose."
"Now I will rely on law and logic to come to our support. This kind of cultural terrorism will have to stop," he added.
The film, which deals about the adversities of war, was majorly shot in the US and Afghanistan.
While he is touched by the support he and his film gets, Kamal added that he is appalled at how his movie is construed to be against his Muslim brothers.
"I am not only hurt by these accusations of denigrating a community but my sensibilities are truly insulted," said Kamal who has written, produced and directed the movie.
He said his statements in favour of the Muslim community has marked him as its sympathizer.
"I have always gone beyond the call of my duty as an actor to voice my opinion in favour of what was humane and civil. I have been part of an organization called Harmony India which worked for Hindu Muslim amity," he added.
On Wednesday the state government banned "Vishwaroopam" movie for two weeks with around 25 Muslim organisations objected to Kamal's movie on the ground that it portrays the community in bad light.
The Tamil and Telugu versions were slated for a Friday release, while the Hindi version, titled "Vishwaroop", is scheduled to come out Feb 1.
When Muslim organisations had objected to the movie, the 58-year-old organised a special show for them to allay their fears.
However, the organisations hardened their stance after watching the movie, alleging that the community was shown in bad light.
Earlier, the film got into trouble when Kamal had announced that he will premiere it first on DTH and then take it to the theatres.
But when distributors objected, he had to revise his plans. Now the Tamil and Telugu versions will be aired on DTH a week after theatrical release.
