Swathi to start production house

If one has a good talent and the skill to make it better then it would make more sense to turn that into a business venture and grow rich. This is something Colors Swathi seems to have realized and now there is a strong grapevine that the big eyed cute girl is gearing up to start her production house.

Colors Swathi had a great fame in TV as an anchor and she became a big hit. The same celebrity status also got her few projects in film industry and today she is working in Telugu and Tamil projects. Recently, the married duo of Suma and Rajeev Kanakala has started a production house.
Many are suggesting that if the grapevine is true and Swathi can also launch her production house then she would click. When she has talent she has to focus on two three different things and that is going to widen her spectrum of growth. For now, Swathi will soon be seen in the new film ‘Swamy Ra Ra’ with Nikhil.

Loaded with bundles of talent, this hot Telugu girl is yet to find a right hit such that she will become a busy actress in town. Right now, they are talking about her ‘calling’ and there seems to be a hot element beside it.

A couple of films of homely beauty Colors Swathi are hitting screens in a short time. They are navdeep’s Bangaru Kodi Petta‘ and Nikhil‘s ‘Swamy Ra Ra‘. Talking about ‘Swamy Ra Ra‘, it looks more like a romantic title where Swathi is calling her lover fondly. However, Swathi is heard increasing a bit of sex appeal for this film through some hot thigh shows and glamour displays. Cine observers are saying that she is calling youths ‘ra ra‘ with those moves to come and fall in her oomph quotient. And if her magic works, maybe she will be ending up with some big-hero films getting a chance to become the queen of Telugu cinema.

On the flip side, Swathi is heard playing another interesting role in Navdeep’s ‘Bangaru Kodi Petta’, but surprisingly both these films are looking like they belong to same genre. Let us see how fate will turn for her this year.

Arundhati plays a sex-worker in Koothu

Arundhati
Arundhati
Many lead heroines have enacted as sex-workers on-screen. Sneha did it in Dhanush’s Puduppettai which didn’t succeed at the box-office but Anushka did the role with aplomb in Vaanam and won positive reviews for her portrayal of the character. Not only in Tamil films; Bollywood heroines too have the belief that playing a sex-worker’s role would be a career-boosting move.
Arundhati, who debuted in producer-director S.A. Chandirasekaran’s Veluthukattu, is now playing a sex-worker in her upcoming film titled Koothu. Most actresses are of the opinion that such roles bring out the best in an actress.
The film’s shoot is almost over and it is getting ready for its theatrical release. After starring in some ‘bold sequences’ in the film, Arundhati is now said to be rather ‘uneasy’ about the outcome of certain sequences when they hit the big screen. The sequences, which she did with ease during the shoot, are said to be returning in her dreams to haunt her and she is in a ‘catch-22’ situation as she can’t talk about it openly either.
Arundhati fears that after Koothu releases, she might be categorized as a ‘soft-porn’ actress and might continue to get such roles. Sources close to her say that Arundhati is afraid that such sequences might not escape the scissors of the Censor Board. “I have been praying so to the Almighty,” she confesses to her close friends.
Whether or not the Almighty listens to her prayers would be known in the days to come!

Entry into politics depends on ‘time’, Rajini tells his fans

Super Star Rajinikanth
Super Star Rajinikanth
Superstar Rajinikanth the ‘man of the masses’ met up with the office-bearers of the presidium of Rajini Fans’ Clubs and appreciated their efforts in organizing his birthday celebrations in a grand manner. And during the meet he had told his fans that his entry into politics depends on ‘time’ and has asserted that the situation should be ‘ripe’ for him to consider doing so.
In one of those rarest of rare occasions, Rajini took part in the birthday celebrations held on 13th December last month. He even met fans outside his residence for the whole day on 12-12-12, the day he turned 62. Rajini had arranged for an informal chat with the office-bearers of the presidium so as to thank each of them personally for the successful conduct of the birthday celebrations.
The ‘informal chat’ was held at the sprawling Raghavendra Kalayana Mandapam owned by the superstar on the New Year day. Rajini spent close to an hour, mingling freely with all and honoured them by presenting mementos for the hard work they had put in. “As I had told you (fans) many times in the past, it’s of utmost importance to take care of your respective families,” Rajini insisted.
When the fans asked him as to whether they could rest assured of his political entry in the near future, Rajini replied that it (entry) is ‘possible only when the (political) situation becomes ripe’. Rajini reportedly reminded his fans of the not-so-successful political careers experienced by his contemporaries Chiranjeevi and Vijayakanth and added that he would enter the political arena ‘if and only if’ he felt for sure that the time was ripe for him to do whatever he wanted to for the welfare of the people.
“It’s not wise to hurry things like this,” Rajini is said to have concluded. Rajini’s speech at a book release function held last weekend wherein he didn’t ‘rule out the possibility’ of his entry into politics had triggered fresh expectations amid his fans that their Thaialvar would ultimately and invariably take the much-awaited plunge into politics.

Parvathy Omanakuttan signs up for Nadhigal Nanaivadhillai

Parvathy Omanakuttan
Parvathy Omanakuttan
Parvathy Omanakuttan who has on the lookout of a meaty role in Kollywood may finally have hit the bulls’ eye as she has signed up for her next project in Tamil.Following her low impact stint in Ajith’s Billa 2. The movie eventually bombed at the box office despite the presence of Ajith in the lead. It is only in her good interest that she signed up Nadhigal Nanaivadhillai for a little price to stay in the eyes of her fans in Kollywood.
There is no doubt that if Billa 2 had been a success, she would be doing only roles with A list actors in Tamil. Unfortunately it is not the case with her. She says “My next movie has a lot of scope for me and I hope I can make a mark here. For me hits are only a part of the game and so are the flops.”
Anyhow she has stooped low and is now starring opposite a newcomer in the movie. Notably her character has been scripted to showcase her acting skills much prominently throughout the movie. Following a promising screen time she has nodded in favor of the offer by director P C Anbhazagan. The film however, is set against a village background and the girl will have to appear in a deglamourized avatar for the movie.
The film has Ganja Karuppu, TP Gajendran and Banupriya in supporting roles. Composer Soundaryan has churned out some melody numbers featuring veteran KJ Yesudoss. We wish the actress all the best.
We hope she will deliver a hit in Tamil and affirm her presence soon. Good luck girl.

Movies that stand out amidst pathetic ventures in 2012

Movies to watch out in 2012
Movies to watch in 2012
Year: 2012
No of Film Released :  161, of which  51 are dubbed films
Shockingly, only a tenth of films have managed to make any kind of impact at the box office. Worse, there are fewer films that could be categorized as quality films.

However, there is hopes amidst ruins. 2012 had on offer many films made by film-makers who had innate talents and an eye for detail while making their films. Shankar, Balaji Sakthivel, Prabhu Solomon, Vasantha Balan, Mysskin, Pandiraj, A.R. Murugadoss, M. Rajesh, Sundar C, Chakri Taloti, Seenu Ramaswamy, Gawtham Vasudev Menon and A.L. Vijay were the prominent film-makers whose films adorned theatres in the year.
There were some fresh talents who made everyone sit up and watch. Balaji Tharaneetharan, Karthick Subburaj, Lakshmi Ramkrishnan, Ranjith, P.R. Prabhakaran, and Balaji Mohan were among the few who had made some memorable mark in their first attempts.
To say that Balaji’s Vazhakku Enn 18/9 was soul-searching would be an under-statement. The film was an eye-opener in many aspects, especially pertaining to the safety of school and college-going girls. Vazhakku Enn 18/9 was also declared as the best film of the year at the Chennai International Film Festival. The movie also had a decent run in theaters. This can easily be termed as the best movie of the year.
It is very difficult to say which film comes second and third in terms of quality, as there are many films that were impressive in different levels. With no clear favorites, let us just go through the films without rating them.
Seenu Ramaswamy has once again proved his worth as a meaningful filmmaker with his Neerparavai. He has touched a sensitive political issue and depicted the livelihood and culture of fishermen community in Tamil Nadu. He has also presented a beautiful love story in his script. The movie would have been an outstanding experience if he had avoided a few loopholes in the script.
Solomon’s year-end offering Kumki has opened to huge responses in theatres and critics say the film falls just short of his own Mynaa in terms of quality. The movie has Solomon’s stamp of realistic portrayal and visual beauty.
Shankar’s Nanban has a strong message on our education system. The movie on the while was presented well. However, the movie cannot be compared with other movies, as it is a perfect remake of Hindi movie 3 Idiots.
Newcomers Karthick Subburaj and Balajee Tharanitharan hit the bull’s eye with their respective debut directorial ventures in the form of Pizza and Naduvula Konjam Pakkathai Kaanom.
Siddharth-Amala’s Kaadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Eppadi directed by Balaji Mohan (debutant) too impressed with its presentation.
The common factor in these three directors is that they have come from the arena of experimental short films.
Also got noted was Ranjith who made Attakathi starring newcomers. The movie talked about the lives of lower class people living in the suburban areas of Chennai. Ranjith’s realistic portrayal and the fun filled narrative were received well.
Lakshmi Ramakrishnan is another director who impressed in maiden venture. Her Arohanam may not be termed as a wholesome movie experience but the movie has shown that the director has a lot of potential.
Sundarapandian by another debutant P.R. Prabhakaran has impressed as an entertainer despite some flaws and castiest overtones.
Anbazhagan, another promising new director, has delivered a strong message on our education system through his Sattai
Murugadoss’ Vijay-Kajal Aggarwal Thuppakki, the year’s biggest grosser, was appreciated for its content as well despite the controversy surrounding request by Islamic movements to delete some sequences in the film.
Magizh Thirumeni’s Arun Vijay starrer Thadaiyara Thaakka was appreciated as a neat entertainer. The crime thriller has been narrated well.
Kalakalappu (Sundar C) and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi (Rajesh) have been appreciated as comedy entertainers. Both movies had a successful run in the box office too.
While Sundar C tasted with success as director with Kalakalappu, Rajesh hit a hat-trick by making another mass entertainer that had Udhayanidhi Stalin as hero.
Vasanthabalan’s much-awaited period-flick Aravaan was an honest attempt but it failed to impress as a whole thanks to some serious bungling in the second half despite the presence of Aadhi, Pasupathy and a much-improved Dhansika.

Disappointing/Failed

Suriya, Karthi, and Vikram had disappointing outings with Maatraan, Saguni, and Thandavam respectively. All the three movies were not received well by both the masses and critics.
Ajith’s much-awaited Billa-2 by Chakri Taloti tuned out to be the biggest disappointment of 2012. The young director has wasted the opportunity by not presenting a neat entertaining despite having a man who has a huge fan following. The director has taken too many things for granted.
Mysskin’s Jiiva-Pooja Hegde starrer Mugamoodi, Dhanuh-Shruti Haasan’s Aishwarya-directed 3, Elred Kumar’s much-touted thriller Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal which had Atharva and Amala Paul in the lead, Sundar C’s Murattukkalai were joined by director Perarasu’s Bharath-Sunaina starrer Tiruthani as ‘failed projects’.

2012 Overall outcome

The year hasn’t seen many movies that could be termed as quality movies but it has seen a few new talents and that is quite encouraging news for the future. It has once again been proved that mere presence of big stars does not ensure quality or successful movie. Strong story element, genuine attempt, novelty, and engaging factors are the main factors that could make a good movie. A star can only add value to these aspects but he or she cannot compensate for the lack of these things. One wises that the failures of the movies with big stars must serve as a wakeup call for the entire industry.
In nutshell, 2012 is not a promising year in terms of quality but is has offered some hopes for the futures through some newcomers.

Madhoo wants to do a Tabu

Madhoo
Madhoo
Madhoo who forayed into Tamil cinema with her stint in Azhagan back in 1991. Soon she shot to fame with her following movie Roja. Thereafter, the actress has been in much demand in Tamil as well as other regional indsutries. Anyhow, she has been very choosy with her roles and has only been part of five movies in Kollywood till date. Moreover, one of those roles was merely a special appearance for a dance sequence in Iruvar.
Post a long hiatus, the actress is now eyeing a comeback to the reel world. She says “I hail from south India but I have spent most of my childhood in Mumbai. Although I have spent a lot of time in north I will never forget the southern industry. I believe there is something karmic about my relation with movies down south. I am settled in life now but won’t mind doing a good movie if it comes my way. Tabu was amazing in Life of Pi and I would like to roles on similar lines.I am glad to receive offers in Tamil and Telugu after a long time.”
Although the actress is currently busy with a Tollywood project she is yet to disclose more on her Tamil projects. Her fans in Kollywood are looking forward for the 90′s divas on screen comeback and expect a positive anouncement on the same.

Rajinikanth creates waves with En vazhi thani vazhi speech

Rajini at p-chidambaram-book-launch
The recent book launch of P Chidambaram’s Oru Paaravai on his birthday saw the bigwigs of Kollywood grace the occasion to much surprise. Interestingly it saw Super Star Rajinikanth and  Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan on a common platform. Moreover, M Karunanidhi and lyricist Vairamuthu were also present for the occassion.
Highlight of the event was Rajinikanth  Speech, when called called upon to say a few words regarding the launch. As Rajini trotted towards to the podium many shouted in praise and even urged the superstar to clear upon his current political stand. Initially, he spoke upon his brief association with DMK during the 1996 elections and many of those are asking him to join politics soon followed it with a one liner,  If at all I ever choose to do so “En vazhi thani vazhi”, which raised the mood to its electrifying best.
Rajini continued  ” Chidambara is a fluent speaker in both Tamil and English.  I ve known him for the past 16 years.
“I realized through him and others that politics is not a paradise but is a bed of thorn.  PC presented me with the NDTV award few years back and I was happy to receive the award from him.  He always wears dhoti and shirt and looks good in them.  PC knows how to manage the finance ministry and it’s because of this he’s been given the same assignment more than once in the past too.
“I’m sure PC is trusted a lot by the PM who shares with him many secrets in government and in the party.  PC doesn’t say much on many issues but whenever he expresses his opinion, it’s firm and analytical.  I’m not much into politics and don’t know anything about it.  For this reason, I don’t want to enter politics.  I presume PC is aware that my way, if I ever enter politics, would be an unique one,
Following him was Kamal Haasan who seconded the praises and wished the Union Minister will reach the apex of power soon. The ceremonies were subsequently carried out flawlessly at the Kamarajar Arangam in Chennai. It concluded as our former chief minister M Karunanidhi presented a copy of the book to Chidambaram’s mother Lakshmi Ammal.
